Mad Men Inspired Wallpaper DIY

I just moved out of my cramped east village studio into a 1br. For the first time in my life my kitchen, living room and bedroom are all separate. But I do miss the cluttered yet coziness of my old spot. Being sandwiched in between my kitchenette, futon and record collection was oddly comforting. I think I must be experiencing a sort of studio Stockholm syndrome. So since it’s almost impossible to clutter my entire apartment, I’ve turned to DIY magazine wallpaper to at least clutter my walls.
This is what you need:
- Wall-covering Adhesive
- Water-based Polyurethane
- Pasting brush
- Synthetic bristle brush
- Wallpaper smoother
- Scissors or Razor
- Magazines (I used vintage Town & Country & Holiday magazines from the 60s.)

This is what you have to do:
- Make sure wall your papering is clean, smooth and free of debris
- Separate magazine and arrange paper on the floor in the order you’d like it to appear on the wall
- With the pasting brush paste wall-covering adhesive onto the wall a section at a time
- Apply magazine paper to the wall and smooth out using smoother
- Working from top to bottom apply magazine paper to the wall one by one, slightly overlapping sheets
- For left over space trim magazine with scissors or razor to fit small areas
- Once wall is completely covered, brush water-based polyurethane over the magazine paper to finish
