High End Times Vol. 1 has been a long time in the making, so, needless to say, we’ve been eagerly awaiting its drop. DJ Brenmar stepped away from his usual rapid-fire release of edits and remixes, and, instead, took about eight months to concoct eight Brenmar original songs for the mixtape, which features the likes of Ziggy The Zombie, Mykki Blanco, and Sasha Go Hard. The Chicago native has a keen understanding of what gets a crowd going, especially the ladies, so expect beats that will amp you up and get stuck in your head for days. We’re vibing to Iggy Azalea’s new video “Fancy” in the office today. Its perfectly themed to our favorite movie of the 90′s, Clueless. Featured on the track is Steve Madden Music Artist Charli XCX, who sings an addicting hook that we just can’t get out of our heads.
There’s something about a bunch of young boys playing guitars all fuzzed-out and pummelling and mantic that makes me excited. It’s a certain kind of energy from the yang that breaks guitars in half and makes drums break (don’t get me wrong here, “Women invented punk rock, not England”, straight up), but sometimes I like to get down with the boys. The latest single from Austin-based band Ghetto Ghouls is young, masculine punk at it’s most chaotic. Driving, hard and catchy as hell, thank you, Beerland for breeding this band. Listen here.
Sometimes when I am feeling really down and ultra feminine, I like to brush my hair and stare out the window and pretend I’m 7 years old again. Then, I’ll drink a glass of wine and do my make-up really dark, then go for a long drive with the windows open. The new single from Beverly “Honey Do” is basically the soundtrack for that moment.
