Treasure Hunt x Greatest Hits
I’ve been collecting clothes since high school, however I didn’t fully come into my “adult closet” until I opened my store, I Heart. I started adding designer pieces into my wardrobe while slowly working on my vintage collection. Now, years later, I can finally say I have an addiction. I love finding that special piece that no one else has. I love the idea owning something, not quite knowing how to wear it, and then years later, realizing that your new shoes would work perfectly with this outfit. All the more reason to not clean out my closet!!
So with that in mind, I thought I’d share with you a few of my favorite vintage pieces I’ve found along the way, and show you how I’m styling them today; who knows about tomorrow.
A find from the Goodwill in Pittsburgh, I was immediately drawn to the idea of a floral print on denim chambray. The waistband and pockets then added to my interest and after a few rolled hems, it became the perfect jumper.
This hot 80s number was a favorite of mine when I performed with my band Open Ocean. Its covered up in the front with a bit of sexiness to the back. Then because I love pattern on pattern and also the addition of sneakers with a dress. Now I’m ready for any dance floor.
I like to dress for one decade one day and a completely different decade the next. Why keep your style to just one look? This dress had a certain 40s sentimentality to it but with a crazy paisley print. I let the hem out on this dress and it became the perfect length. The elastic waist wasn’t holding up over the years and instead of hiding the waist with a belt, I decided to use a sweater clasp to pull the two sides in which became much more appealing.
One day in Hudson, NY, I came across these mini pleated flared shorts with an elastic waistband and they immediately became a favorite piece of mine. Here, I pair a polka dot silk buttondown with my Steve Madden leopard booties. I like how the prints play off each other and that the polka dots are various shapes and sizes, just like the spots on a leopard!
